Chillbrook Has Landed..
In Iceland! Quite an adventure awaits exploring this amazing island of fire and ice and I can’t wait to get going. Picking up a hire car at Keflavik airport this afternoon, I couldn’t resist taking just a couple of detours on my way to checking into my apartment, organising some groceries and unwinding after a very tiring day (and night).
I didn’t sleep at all last night. I had a really good sleep Saturday afternoon and set off for Bristol airport at silly O’clock to make my flight at 7.30 this morning. A three-hour drive, two-hour check-in, security, getting hooked up with the assisted passenger people, having myself and my wheelchair scanned labelled and loaded aboard the aircraft, it all took time..
A wonderful flight ensued, with clear skies over the west of Scotland it was easy to make out the islands of Arran and Mull. For now, I will leave you with just a couple of shots taken on the drive from the airport in Keflavik to the capital, Reykjavik, where I will be based for the next ten days. Well done to Lynn for guessing my destination.. :-)
With the light changing in this second shot by the second, I became seriously excited about the coming days. I just hope I can do this Island justice..
Click on the images for a clearer sharper view.. :-)
FABULOUS! And here I am, reading an article about booming Iceland in Conde Nast Traveller, wondering when I’ll get the chance to get there. Thrilled for you and can’t wait for upcoming posts. Until then, do you need some tips of where to eat in Reykjavik?
November 16, 2014 at 6:51 pm
Thank you Marina. I think it’s going to be a great week or so. The weather is moody which is just perfect for this amazing landsacpe and landscape photographs of course. Some tips on where to eat would be much appreciated. Thank you :-)x

You might get a credulous of views. I tried opening the link on my phone and it went on some kind of repeat mode, opening tab after tab of your post.
Anyway, looks amazing . . . but was hoping for Greenland . . . that’s one country that shows zero views to my blog (Iceland has 6).
Enjoy the trip, and looking forward to more photos.
November 16, 2014 at 9:09 pm
“Credulous” was supposed to be “craploads” . . . obviously the auto correct is not all versed in my speecherisms.

Thank you Sue. I will try not to disappoint. I’m having such a good time though. The Weather is as one might expect for November but a November a lot further south. It was 10 degrees C today. The clouds are heavy, but when they break this landscape is breathtaking. Can’t wait to share..! :-)
November 19, 2014 at 7:46 pm
Wow! It sounds great…I can just picture you with all your photographic equipment deciding how to take the next stunning shot after the last stunning shot 😄
November 19, 2014 at 8:15 pm
I’m like a dog with two tails.. everywhere I look there’s a picture and when you have a destination in mind, getting there can take a while.. I have to limit myself or I’d never get anywhere. :-)
November 19, 2014 at 10:51 pm
I know the feeling!
November 20, 2014 at 8:24 am

November 19, 2014 at 7:44 pm
Seems I didn’t have to wait long for your destination to become clear – perhaps there are benefits to only being able to catch up with the blogging world once a week or so! It looks as though you’re going to have a great time :)
November 17, 2014 at 9:55 am
There you go.. It’s been an amazing few days so far Noeline. By the time you catch up again my time here will be nearly over.. It’s an incredible country. It’s really getting under my skin in a way I really didn’t expect. I will keep clicking that shutter!

November 17, 2014 at 11:25 am
Thank you very much Lignum. It’s been an amazing few days.. So many images. I feel I need to stop the car every two minutes the scenery and weather are so dramatic and dynamic!
November 19, 2014 at 7:41 pm
Bizarrely, I had thought you might be headed to Iceland. Everything I have seen or read about Iceland has described unique landscapes and I am eagerly looking forward to seeing your images. Have a fantastic time, Adrian
November 17, 2014 at 4:44 pm
Thank you Andy. It’s a fascinating landscape. Driving around today it reminds me in many ways of Scotland because of the colours but the relatively recent and ongoing volcanic activity as well as the actions of glacias that have shaped the landscape make it like nothing I’ve ever seen. I just hope my energy levels can keep up..
November 17, 2014 at 5:36 pm
Wishing you the best of times, Adrian…and I can’t wait to see more of your work from here.
November 18, 2014 at 1:36 pm

November 19, 2014 at 7:39 pm

dramatic images :)
November 19, 2014 at 7:25 pm
Amazing images. Iceland is quite something different than anything else on Earth. I am sure you will have a great time. If these are only a few quick shots taken on the way to Reykjavik – how is this going to end! Enjoy the trip.
November 19, 2014 at 7:42 pm
Thank you Otto! Iceland really is quite someething. It’s an alien landscape full of such breathtaking scenery. As I’ve said in the response to other comments, I’m just wanting to stop the car every other mile, the landscape changes with the light and the weather which is so moody, matching the landscape. I’m looking forward to sharing more images. It’s day 4 now and I have so many images. Lots of work when I get home, sorting through them, can’t wait! :-)
November 19, 2014 at 8:10 pm
