Finally, cornwallphotographicsales.com is LIVE!

For those of you who follow my blog, you’ll know that for a couple of months now, I’ve been building my own e-commerce website.  Tired of Photoshelter, Smugmug and the rest, taking such a large chunk of sales subscribers make, I thought I’d go it alone.

cornwallphotographicsales.com is now available to view via a browser near you, selling fine art photographic prints and cards.  I’m now an Amazon and Topaz Labs affiliate so I’m able to sell a select range of cameras, lenses, camera bags, tripods and accessories  along with Topaz Labs’ excellent processing software.  If you’re looking for camera equipment, check out my site, All the products offered have been tested by myself and come highly recommended.  Oh and I’m also to be running workshops from January next year, the details are on the website.  A chance to visit some of the best locations for landscape photography in Cornwall.

It’s been a long journey full of many ups and downs but I’m there now.  This morning, I put the site online.

I hope you’ll all visit the site over the coming weeks. The more times the merrier! Lots of traffic will ensure Google takes notice and the site will start to climb the page rankings.

Thank you all for your kind words of support and encouragement. Within an hour of the site going live I made my first sale, a large fine art print, confirming it’s all been worth it.  My special thanks go to my first customer! :-)

  2. Looks very good. Are you going to keep the blog going, or eventually integrate it to the web-site?

Also, which lab(s) are you dealing with? Or are you printing and shipping on your own?

    Just wondering.

    October 5, 2013 at 5:59 pm

    • Thank you Emilio. I’m using Spectrum Photographic here in the UK. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be looking at labs in the US. I’d hope to cut postage if I can get my US sales printed there. I’d happily take any advice on that one.

      October 5, 2013 at 6:48 pm

      • I’ve not done any lab printing. I would suggest some of the labs SmugMug and other photo depository sites use.

A good place to start http://improvephotography.com/7756/test-results-best-online-print-lab/

        October 5, 2013 at 6:53 pm

      • Thanks Emilio. I’ve done a few prints at home and they’ve been very good but I can only print to A4 and I can’t guarantee the paper or the inks are going to stand up to the test of time. Spectrum guarantee 100 years and 200 years if the photos are archived. I feel more confident and secure selling a print that has that kind of longevity.

  3. Well done Adrian, I’ll have a good look round your new site over the next few days. You’re an inspiration to the rest of us…..well to me at least..:0)

      • I’ve checked out your new sales site today Adrian and it’s really good. Your landscape work is excellent and I’m sure it will sell. Would you say that you’re basically a pro-photographer now?

        October 6, 2013 at 12:24 pm

      • Thank you Mark. I think to be classed as a pro photographer, you need to derive the majority of your income from photography. So I’d say not quite but it’s very, very close. I think the coming weeks will tell.

Really catches the feel of Cornwall. I hope this is a helpful observation, but I found the type face quite hard to read.

    • Hi Thank you. Yes it’s not the easiest is it. The fonts available with WordPress, even with the upgrade, are so limited. Watch this space, I’ll be making some changes. Thanks for your comment.. :-)

    • Thank you so much Marina. Difficult to imagine but it’ll soon be two years. I’m happy to still have a lot of blogging friends I made in the early days. You were there right from the outset Marina, encouraging me to start the blog in the first place, Cornwall – A Photographic Journey. Well it has been quite a journey and I never imagined it would lead where it has. Today has been quite a milestone and I’m very grateful to you for being there all the way along the road. :-) x

What a terrific achievement ChillB .
Huge congratulations on your website launch :-)
I know there have been ups and downs, but all the hard work and persistance in the dark regions of code and idiosyncrasies of it all has certainly paid off in the end result.
A very professional website which is a pleasure to peruse and really does justice to your wonderful photographic images of Cornwall.
I’m already looking forward to the postman delivering next week ;-)

  35. Great image today, Adrian. Congratulations on the commercial site. It looks very professional on a quick look round and bookmarked the site. I can imagine there’s been more than a few weeks of really hard graft to get it to this level. I’ve been toying with the idea of using SmugMug but the time commitment is putting me off. I wish you well. Do keep us posted on your progress.

    October 10, 2013 at 7:36 pm

    • Hi Andy, Thanks for your comment. It has indeed been more than a few weeks of hard work to get the site launched. Not being a web designer or programmer, I’ve had to learn a lot along the way but I got there in the end. This really seemed the only answer to places like Smugmug taking such a large commission for displaying your work and of course, they are displaying your work with thousands of others. Difficult to get noticed. I’ve had a lot of traffic this last week and this can only help with the process of building a page ranking that will put me somewhere near the first two pages of results when people do a search. I will keep you posted.

      October 11, 2013 at 8:46 am

      • If this is your own work then I am amazed! Are you offering evening classes? You can retain your own identity with SmugMug by importing your own domain name which I guess helps retain the visibiity that may have been built up over time. Starting from scratch sounds hard – but you have succeeded magnificently. Spectrum look a very professional outfit too. Best of luck with this venture, Adrian.

        October 11, 2013 at 10:10 am

  36. blogging is very interesting – is it not? why has this rather splendid and impressive image fallen some 30 likes short of the next image you published? Your next shot (wave breaking on the shore at 1/13) which whilst being a lovely image lacks the impact of this – so I have decided to tweet this and address the balance ha ha

    October 14, 2013 at 6:03 pm

    • Thank you Scott and thanks for the tweet. Blogging is indeed interesting. I have found on more than one occassion that pictures I’m particularly proud of, and the ones that have attracted comment from pros whom I respect, often don’t do as well on the likes front as others pictures. I guess we all look at photographs differently.

      October 14, 2013 at 7:50 pm

  37. It’s been great to watch your business evolve Adrian. Best of luck with the venture.

    November 5, 2013 at 8:56 pm
