  2. Gorgeous image, Adrian. I love the colour, but the B&W is also really nice. :)

  10. What a beauty – and both are equally good. Different interpretations of mood but they both capture the moment

    • Thanks Andy! This was one of those rare moments where there just wasn’t time of the tripod. My camera was hastily unclipped and I shot hand held using the window of the car for support. I was really pleased with the result. I couldn’t choose between the two interpretations so posted both. :-)

  11. The colour version just edges it for me; I like the range of tones and the ‘black’ tint to the colours gives them an aged/timeless look that, for me, creates a happy (but not that glib!) image reminiscent of days of summer past. I expect it was a bit chillier than that though :D

    • It was a tad on the raw side Noeline. Up on the glacier however, we’d crossed river beds and all sorts to get there, out of the blue we passed what looked like an outdoor privy made of wood, a huge wooden slatted tub and lots of people in swimwear enjoying what I can only imagine was a hot spring in the middle of nowhere.. at least I hope it was a hot spring. None of the gloss of the Blue Lagoon that’s for sure. This was muddy feet and a shed for changing. I was almost tempted to take a closer look but the array of tonka toy type pick up trucks was a bit off-putting. Clearly a local haunt. I’m sure they’d have been very welcoming but.. :-)

  12. Sunshine! That’s the first thing that popped into my head when looking at the top image, there haven’t been too many with the sun producing such a lovely display in your Iceland collection so far. I’m afraid with that in mind and all its associations with warmth and pleasantness (even if that is not how it was lol) the colour shot does it for me. The moody blue melting into the orange/yellow glow, above the dark features of the earth, fantastic. Though I have to say, the b/w version makes you look at different aspects, doesn’t it, like the reflections on the water which I hadn’t even noticed in the colour one.

    • I think this is the strength of black and white photography Sonja, it does make you look at different aspects, tones and textures as well as certain detail. I love colour, for the most part I wouldn’t consider reproducing landscapes in black and white but sometimes, a conversion makes sense as it did here. I think perhaps the colour picture does edge ahead for me but I like both and would really have trouble choosing.. :-)
