On the beach from Dawn until Dusk..

A Postcard or two from Fuerteventura

Regular followers of this blog will know that I love the sea, I love the coast and I love the beach.  Whether visiting the beaches around the coast of my home county of Cornwall, the black volcanic snow and ice covered beaches of Iceland or the sun drenched beaches of the Canaries, I’m a happy man.

Here a few picture postcard beach shots from my recent visit to Fuerteventura, I hope you enjoy them..

  2. The clarity in your photos is startling, you can feel the wind peeling the top of the waves.

    March 19, 2016 at 5:42 pm

    • Thank you very much! It’s always windy in the Canary Islands which makes for some great waves.

  4. Wonderful images!! You should visit the other islands in the archipielago! They are so different between them and beautiful… specially the small ones!! ;)

    March 19, 2016 at 6:05 pm

    • Thank you Mercedes. I would love to visit the other islands. I used to sail a great deal. How lovely it would be to hire a boat and sail around all the islands. That steady wind would make sailing the islands such a pleasure. That is definitely now on my bucket list. :-)

      March 19, 2016 at 6:09 pm

      • They are also formed by volcanic eruptions.. you’ll be surprised to see that there are some similarities with Iceland… without the cold weather and the snow and ice (except for the Mt. Teide, of course).
Anyway, it’s a pleasure to watch the beauty of my birthplace though your camera!!

        March 19, 2016 at 6:15 pm

      • Such a lovely compliment Mercedes, thank you. I did notice quite a lot of similarities between the islands and Iceland. Especially looking down during the flights in and out. To see the strings of volcanos so clearly was quite something.

  14. Fuerteventura is on my list for a winter visit now, but to be honest some of these photos look very Cornish :)
I hope the warmth has done you good.

    March 20, 2016 at 12:34 am

    • Thanks Jude! Some of the beaches definitely looked very Cornish just a tad warmer. I feel great after a break in the sun. Sunshine works wonders and it was nice to have some sunshine on our return also. Very cold sunshine but it made the transition from holiday back to reality a little easier to be sure. :-)

      March 20, 2016 at 7:45 am

      • I don’t like it too hot nowadays, but around 20 – 25 degrees suits me fine. If only we could have that here for a few months.

        March 21, 2016 at 7:30 pm

      • Eliza Dolittle springs to mind.. It would indeed be wonderful. I think you’ll enjoy the climate in the Canaries at this time of year for sure Jude! :-)

  15. your photos are so vivid, and it’s a great idea to hang out from dawn to dusk at the beach. did you ever take night shots of beaches? (wondering cos I always find the waves in the darkness eerily calming)

    March 20, 2016 at 6:08 am

    • Thank you very much, yes I have taken quite a few photos of the beach at night. I find the ocean at any time of day calming but I agree, at night very much so.
