Book Covers..

It’s always nice when your work is recognised and I’m really pleased that one of my photos has been chosen for the cover of The Malice of the Waves, a thriller by Mark Douglas-Home which is to be published on the 19th of May by Penguin.  My photograph is featured on the hardback edition.

Here’s the book cover..

  15. Sally

Congratulations and well done. A very dramatic cover that will certainly look impressive on the bookshop shelf. As an author, as well as a reader, I know that one of the most exciting phases of the publishing process is seeing, and approving, the cover design. Mark Douglas-Home should be well pleased with the presentation of his work. Sally

        April 4, 2016 at 10:19 pm

      • Things are good thank you Mark. The wheels of the NHS turn very slowly at times, I’m still waiting on results but bearing up! :-)

        April 5, 2016 at 7:53 am

      • I work for the NHS, so I know only too well how inefficient they can be at times. Take care.

    Dina

    April 16, 2016 at 12:29 pm

    • I have to confess I’m really quite looking forward to publishing day Dina! I often wondered about book covers and where they came from. Now I know and I have one of my own. Have a fabulous weekend, the Fab Four of Cley! I’ve been thinking I really ought to visit Norfolk soon. I’m enjoying my exploration of minimalism and I’m guessing the big skies and seascapes and flat landscapes I’d find there would make perfect subjects. :-)

      • I’ve an idea, will email you tomorrow.

  33. As we talked about in one of my latest post, recognition is good for the self and can give a creative spur. Congratulations with the cover! Well done, Adrian.

    April 16, 2016 at 10:01 pm

    • It can and indeed did Otto! Thank you. :-)

  34. What a buzz Adrian the photograph lends itself to graphic work – with the space for text some of your mind minimalist big open space Icelandic images would be perfect too. I understand that there are commercial photographers out there who have loads of images on stock sites waiting for someone to creatively match up an idea with their stock. Congratulations a legacy for your work. 😊

    May 7, 2016 at 7:42 am

    • Thank you Scott! Much appreciated. I was introduced to Arcangel by another blogger. It’s a small agency that specialises in book covers, CD covers etc and unlike some of the bigger stock agencies, you’re not just a number and they work hard to match your work to their clients needs. The agency also has regular bulletins calling for specific types of photographic image that their clients need so there’s a great deal of scope to get your work out there. I’m very much looking forward to seeing the book in the bookshops from the 19th May. You mentioned the Icelandic minimalistic images, I’ve just had a whole load more approved to add to the stock so who knows, another cover could come along at any time. I would imagine that a lot of your landscape work would be of great interest to the agency. :-)
